Do I go for Bi-folding or Sliding doors?
This is one of our most commonly asked questions and can be a tricky decision for homeowners, as each product poses different benefits. Bi-folding doors are great if you need to open up a whole space; however, do offer a higher frame to glass ratio than a sliding door. Sliding doors on the other hand offer less of an opening; however, offer a higher glass ratio, giving more of an unbroken view.
Do you do standard sizes?
No, everything we manufacture is made to measure, bespoke to your project.
How much do your products cost?
There are no set prices on any of our products, as everything we make is bespoke and made to measure. This means no one project is the same and each job has to be carefully studied and priced to each customer's requirements.
Are your doors secure?
Yes, our doors are fitted with high security multi-point locking systems, so they are very secure.
Do I need planning permission?
If you’re not building an extension, in most cases bifold/sliding doors are considered a permitted development and so planning permission is not required. But always speak to local authorities about home improvement projects if you’re not sure.
Will new doors and windows add value to my property?
Our customers install new windows & doors for a wide range of reasons, whether they plan to sell their home or not. Our products are made from high quality aluminium and fitted with double or triple glazing, so they guarantee to be long-lasting and thermally efficient. They are incredibly effective at improving the aesthetics of a home through the modern design whilst creating better use of space and light in any sized room.
Are aluminium windows & doors thermally efficient?
Yes, our aluminium products provide exceptional levels of thermal insulation. All window and door systems are weather-tight and fitted with a polyamide thermal break system to resist thermal transfer and keep in the warmth. We are working with glass U Values as low as 1.0.
What colours are available?
We work off the RAL colour chart and our stocked colours are RAL 7016 – Anthracite Grey, 9005 – Black and 9016 – White. Other ‘non-stocked’ & ‘dual’ colours are available, however, there will be an additional cost & longer lead time for these, as they are specially coated.
How do I arrange a quotation?
We don’t offer home visits initially, however, if you would like a quotation for your own project, no matter how big or small, please contact us on 02476 460 115 or email at [email protected] and a member of our sales team will be in touch to discuss & send you a quote. We also have a quotations page where you can fill out a form with specifics for your project, this is then sent through to our sales team to give them all the details they require for getting you an accurate price.
What size do I need?
Standard or set sizes cannot guarantee the perfect fit for every job, so that’s why all of our windows and doors are custom made to your exact measurements. If you can tell us the rough sizes in mm you require, we can advise you on which product would be best for your opening.
What are your payment terms?
For all jobs, whether you’re having your products installed or on a supply only basis we ask for a 50% deposit to confirm your order; then when products have been manufactured and the installation or delivery date has been agreed, we will require a further 50% balance payment. You will receive all project paperwork and certificates once the balance has been paid.
What areas do you cover?
We cover within around a 40-mile radius of where our factory is based in Tile Hill, Coventry. This covers Coventry, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Stratford Upon Avon, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Solihull, Birmingham, Hinckley, Rugby & Wolston. If you are looking for a supply only price & the distance is further than the above areas stated, we can provide a delivery cost at an additional cost, otherwise a quote would be based on collection from our factory.
What product guarantees do you offer?
Schuco offer a 10-year guarantee & Origin offer a 20-year guarantee.
What are your current lead times?
We are currently working to a 10–12-week lead time, but this can differ slightly depending on the products & RAL colours you’re having. Always ask when requesting a quotation. Lead time is usually broken down into 3-4 weeks from point of deposit till site measure, then a further 6-8 weeks from site measure till installation.
Do you offer UPVC & Aluminium products ?
We do not supply or install plastic products. We only recommend aluminium windows and doors because the longevity of aluminium is incomparable to the inferior plastic products available. Low performance coupled with expansion problems associated with plastic doors makes them unreliable, so we feel aluminium is always the better option on the market.
Do you offer slim line doors?
Yes, our sliding ranges offer the slimmest site lines. If you like Schuco, the ASE60 slim model has the slimmest site lines. If you prefer Origin, the OS-29 slim model has the slimmest site lines.
Do you offer flush casement windows?
Yes, the Origin OW-70 window offers an external flush casement & the OW-80 window offers internal & external flush casements.
Do you have a showroom?
Yes, where we are based in Tile Hill, Coventry.
What are your opening hours?
Showroom/office opening hours are as follows: Monday – Thursday 8.00am till 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am till 3.30pm.
At what stage do I need a site measure?
Everything we offer is made to measure, so we need a fully formed aperture to take finalised measurements. We don’t do any brick work, so if required you will need a builder on board to complete any necessary work prior to your measure appointment with us. In the case of a ‘like for like’ product being installed into an existing opening, we will remove the doors where requested on the day of installation, so there is no work prior to your measure required.

We would recommend placing your order with us before your builders begin (if any work is required beforehand for extensions etc) and once they begin, we would advise confirming with them when they will have the openings ready to be measured, so you can book your measure in advance to avoid any delays to lead time. If you are having a ‘like for like’ product and everything is already ready to be measured, you can order and book a measure at your convenience.
CAN I GET ANY COLOUR I WANT?
If your door is in an even number of panes, usually they fully concertina without a main traffic door, so it would mean opening up the door fully to use it; whereas with an odd number of panes you would get a main traffic door to act as a single opening door to come in and out of, without always having to fully open up the whole space. Where possible we would always recommend a door in an odd amount of panes for this opening benefit.
